Authorities are recalling bags of Neilson 2% milk in Ontario and Quebec because of the risk of contamination with cleaning solution.
At least one person has had a reaction from drinking contaminated milk, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said Friday.
The recall, done with manufacturer Saputo Inc. of Montreal, involves Neilson Trutaste 2% Microfiltered Partly Skimmed Milk sold in 4-litre bags with the UPC code 066800 00404 4 and a best-before date of Feb. 12, 2012. The best-before code on the bag tab is 1590 FE12 H7.
No other milk is affected, the CFIA said.
The agency warned that milk contaminated with the cleaning solution may not look or smell spoiled. Drinking it could provoke nausea, upset stomach or vomiting, the agency said.
